I visited Lizzy's 5th grade class at Geggie to read to them during reading week. She had the biggest grin on her face when she saw me walk in. She came up to me afterward to make sure I knew who she was (how could I not?) and to tell me that she signed up for German for 6th grade. Unfortunately, LeSalle didn't offer that German class, but she had Audrey make sure that I would still be here at Eureka so she could take German when she got here.

Lizzy started playing on my soccer team in second grade. It did not take long to realize Lizzy could kick the ball really far, no I mean reeeaaaly faaarrr! She had this great toe kick. I remember when we were playing our St. Alban rival team in 5th grade. The game was tied 0-0, it was a very competitive game. We were awarded a free kick right outside the penalty kick area. St. Alban put all 10 players in front of the ball in this straight wall, Dave Junge and I just smiled and said "Lizzy take the kick". Lizzy kicked the ball, the ball sailed over the 10 man wall and over the goalie's head and landed in the goal. Eureka 1 - St. Albans 0, amazing! The St. Alban's coaches, parents, and players just shook their head, they must of thought we had devine intervention (which we now know we did).
Every year I gave out awards at the end of the soccer season and every year Lizzy would win the "Big Foot" award. But Lizzy could of easily won the "Best Defenseman award" , "Best Sportsman Award", "Best Leader on the Field Award", "Best Footskills Award". Or "The Most Valuable Player Award".
I will miss Lizzy both on the soccer field and off, she was a great player and a great person.

Love,

Lizzy loved to play in the water. When Lizzy was little, like 2 to 3 years old it did not matter who was in the tub or who was in the shower, if she heard the water running she started pealing off clothes and running for the tub with the water. (Once the Mickey Mouse slippers did not get removed before Lizzy hit the water!) One day I was walking down the hall and out of the corner of my eye I noticed there were four naked children in the hall bathroom playing in the tub. Now... I have only given birth three times so that was one too many kids! I suppose this is a story about Kristina Thomas our neighbor who jumped in the tub with the Bell kids but I will always remember how much Lizzy loved playing in the water - swimming pools, creeks, puddles, rivers, lakes or bathtubs.

lizzy used to sniff the air and say in that little kid voice, "i smell gum," sniff, sniff, "let me see you gum." then, she would hold out her hand and say, "spid it out." next thing you knew, she had your gum in her mouth.
